Art direction and restyling of the covers
The Ca’Foscari University of Venice publishes scientific books and magazines in several research fields. Politics, history, art, philology and foreign languages are just a few of the topics covered by their large catalogue. The new cover designs break the visual partition between typography and graphics defined in the previous layout: texts, shapes and colours interact with each other, creating a simple yet modern composition. While the design’s degree of abstraction stayed the same, the new graphics became simpler and easier on the eye. Historical, artistic, or cultural context researched in the publications were taken into consideration during the concept phase in order to create remarkable and consistent designs throughout the series.
